how our childhoods brought us together… then tore us apart

she had a fucked up family. i had a fucked up family.

she was abandoned and neglected. she had all the freedom in the world, but nobody to show her the way. she was independent by force.

i was abandoned and neglected by one half of my parents, but alternately smothered. enabled. always someone was there to show me the way and enforce that way and enable that way. i was dependent by force.

all she wanted, then, therefore, was family and interdependence.

all i wanted, therefore, was freedom and independence.

of course we both want to be loved. but this is where our similarities have ended.

and today of all days it makes sense.
